The first animation is called dress up Jesus. This is a bit map interactive animation were the user get to dress up Jesus from the selection of clothes. there are different genres of costumes ranging from Halloween to Hollywood. some good points about the animation is that there is a good variety of costumes to choose from that are quite well drawn. another good point about the animation is that there is a reset button to start again so you don't need to take off all the layers. some bad points about the animation is when your finished dressing up Jesus nothing happens, it would be good if little animation happened of Jesus on some hills or something like that.also some of the out lines of the clothes are quite jagged because they are bitmap not vectors. over all i think this is quite a good and funny animation.
This animation is called raging Bill, this is were you are a boxer that's aim is to knock out bill. this game consists of six animations three left punches and three right head, body and below the belt. i think the animation is a bit boring and repetitive but as an animation it looks clean very simple and easy to understand. It looks like vector graphics so it doesn't look pix-elated. The animation movements are very fluent and smooth. In the movement its self there are only two or three frames this is good because the viewers eye can fill in the rest of the animation. Overall it looks good and animated good but other than that it doesn't have much else going on for it.
This animation is called The Chip Monster, this is quite a weird animation were you can create a face using the pieces on the right. All of the animation uses vector images this is good because it makes it look clean and smooth. I quite like the fact that all the pieces you can choose look like they belong to a model kit. All the pieces move as you hover over it which i think is a good touch to animation also there is weird sound through out the animation that adds to the creepy atmosphere. one of the bad points that I felt should have been included would be snap feature when your taking or putting back a piece. overall I think that the interactive animation works well because of the use of customization, sound and images

animation style
this is style of the animation that James and i chose because we felt that the fish and background looked more defined and just looked different to the other groups animations.
me and James made these fish by going through the footage we had and by gathering images off the internet. The first thing we did to select the fish we wanted in the animation and puppet warp them on there main points of movement. we went through the video footage to see how they actual moved to make the animation as correct as possible.
after this we imported the images to illustrator and vectorized
them and reduced the images to only have 7 colours in them to
make them look over animated. then we traced over the fish with
with a thick line using the pen tool to give the fish a cel shade appearance

when the images were in flash the idea was to have the smaller fish react to the shark that would swim past the screen on a random timer.
the background James made was mad from loads of pictures layered on top of each other to create a a large scale tank, the rocks and plane is also made in cel shade.

Researching and exploring ideas
for the aquarium project research we did some primary research by going to the aquarium and taking pictures and recording video of the tank and fish we want. At the end of the day we came back to college and discussed all the ideas, the first idea was to make a story using the fish in the RAF tank but that would take up to much time and the project is only 5 weeks long. we took our first idea and developed it to a virtual fish tank. We took recording of the most popular fish personality and reactions to other fish and animated them from videos we had. the main plan is to make the animation informative, every time you clicked on the fish the animation would stop and the fishes bio would come up in a box telling you everything from location to size ect. The whole animation was in cel shade to make to fish and background look defined.
Working within constraints
the biggest constraints for me and James was our skills in adobe flash. we only know a little bit of code and not enough to make the fish react the way we wanted but thankfully we had a lecture on image manipulation and in that lecture we learnt about puppet warping. this is one of the tools that James and i used in the animation. Another constraint was time, the project was only 5 weeks long and along with that we had a team member down for the entire project so for the whole time it was just James and me. Because there was only two of us we had to ask for help quite a lot from Lee or Luke and that took up there time.
Reviewing your own work
overall i feel that the project would have been better if we had more time. I really enjoyed working on this project with James, i enjoyed it because he was a good partner to work with we both helped each other out to the best of our abilities and could bounce ideas off each other also we can both take constructive criticism. If i had to do this project again the things i would do differently would be to learn a bit more on flash and get another team member so that it wasn't just me n James doing all the work. In my opinion the project was a good one to get us used to the industry. but i do wish that we had finished the animation so that we could present it.
